Roller Coaster!!
sigh. the stupid site has been up and down more times than a roller coaster. I am so irritated. as I am sure you must all be.
Jeff is so angry about it. He has rewritten so much of the code, reworked everything, gone and gotten other programmers' advice, he has done everything, but go over to the data center where our servers are located and throw them out the window.
He has all of us on high alert, and is monitoring the site 24/7. every time it goes down, he runs to find out what each of us was doing right at the moment, hoping to find a new bug somewhere.
and then he rambles on and on about how this is being done apurpose. I won't get into that here. but he has his theories. I just let him talk it out. its good to get all that paranoia off your chest. haha!
all I know is that we can't live our lives like this much longer.... he checks the stupid site every minute. whenever we can't find him around the house, I know I will find him in the home office working on this stupid server problem. it used to be that I would find him there playing a game or two online with his best friend. I don't think he has played for a couple of weeks. poor guy. needs his geek fix soon or he might explode and then there will be trouble for all of us......
I just wanted to say that I hope geek gets this figured out soon, so you can have your hubby back. We really appreceiate all that everyone is doing trying to keep the site up :) My hubby is into this computer stuff too, and I know how frustrating it can be, especially when someone takes the site down....has happened to us many times before.
*hugs*
Amber :)

Sure hope you don't get so frustrated that you give up on this site Geek. We love it here and hope 2peas is around for a long time. Just to let you know that at my job, we had some serious computer hacking in the past two weeks. Our techies think they've only scratched the surface. So, you are not alone in your computer woes!!!

as frustrating as it for all of us trying to pea, I cannot fathom how bad it must be for your family. I truly sympathize with you.

As "fellow geeks" both DH and I can commiserate and understand, as a former database manager -- OMG! (Been there, done that and no damn t-shirt or thank-you)
If you need any forensics support, we know of a couple folks that used to work with DH that are now in "private practice"

Poor geek! I understand when DH can't play his geeky computer games how hard it can be!! I really appreciate all that you both do to keep this site going.
Thanks!!

How is your thread-id defined? I notice in the NSBR board you are over 1,000,000 threads. That is close to the limit if it is an signed long int. (I'm assuming you are coding in C) An unsigned long int can go over 2 million.
It's been a bunch a years since I coded in C, so if this is nonsense, please just call me a meno-peas goof ball.

Just wanted to say thanks to you guys! it's been frustrating trying to get on here lately, but I'm sure a million times more so for Geek trying to fix whatever the problem is. Hope he finds that errant glitch soon and life can get back to normal for you! Thanks for your hard work in making this site such a fab place to be. :)

I totally empathise with you. My husband is a network engineer and He is always working on SOMETHING. Even at home he has his nose stuck to a router, or studying for his next certification. Good luck.
